Committee Votes 7-0 to Enter Executive Session
School Committee · Meeting of July 20, 2026
Gloucester School Committee reviews flexible state aid bill, then votes 7-0 to go behind closed doors. In a special remote meeting Monday, committee member Amy told the board a new supplemental appropriations bill filed by Governor Maura Healey offers "more leeway" than past state funding tied narrowly to the O'Malley Science Center and the district's CVTE program, calling the new money "a one-time fix" for budget gaps affecting "not the only city or town in Massachusetts." Members agreed a related letter would be circulated for feedback before being sent on the committee's behalf. The committee then voted unanimously, 7-0, on a roll call of Heather Daigle, Melissa, Mayor Lumberg, Andrea, Bill and Laura, to enter executive session under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30A's personnel-related purpose one, stating in advance it did not intend to return to open session, and shifted the closed-door discussion to a separate Google Meet platform.
